Site Handover Guide
When your site is ready, we’ll walk through a structured handover so you know exactly what you have and how to manage it.
What You’ll Receive
- A fully deployed website, live at your domain
- Login access to your Cloudflare account (hosting + domain)
- Login access to your GitHub repository (the site’s source code)
- A walkthrough call covering everything on this page
Handover Steps
1. GitHub Repository Transfer
Your site’s code lives in a GitHub repository. We’ll either:
- Transfer the repo to your GitHub account — you own it outright. Best if you plan to self-manage or work with another developer later.
- Add you as a collaborator — we retain ownership but you can make changes. Best if you’re staying on our maintenance plan.
If transferring:
- Create a free account at github.com if you don’t have one.
- We initiate the transfer from our end — you’ll receive an email to accept it.
- Accept the transfer within 24 hours.
2. Cloudflare Account Setup
Your site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (free tier). We’ll either:
- Transfer the Cloudflare Pages project to your Cloudflare account — full ownership.
- Keep it under the ShareWeb account — easier for ongoing maintenance, less for you to manage.
If transferring to your account:
- Create a free account at cloudflare.com.
- Connect your GitHub repository to Cloudflare Pages.
- Set the build command:
npm run buildand output directory:dist. - Add your custom domain under Custom Domains.
3. Domain DNS
If your domain is registered through us, we’ll point it to Cloudflare and hand over the registrar login. If you purchased your domain yourself, we’ll give you the DNS records to add.
4. Content Editor Access (if applicable)
If your site includes a web-based content editor (Decap CMS), you’ll log in using your GitHub account. No separate password — it’s linked to the repo you already own.
See Editing Your Content for full instructions.
5. Walkthrough Call
We’ll do a 30–60 minute screen-share call covering:
- How the site is structured
- How to make common updates (if self-managing)
- What to do if something breaks
- How to contact us for paid support
